The space shuttle from the book “How things work.”

The shuttle was the first space vehicle to be reusable. It had the key role in building the international space station.

Major parts: orbiter ( carried the crew), external fuel tank ( lost on each flight), main engines and the solid rocket ( lasts about 20 flights)

Note: the orbiter landed like an airplane.
